Precis Writing (New Addition)

A judge does not have time to read every page of every submission in full, which is exactly why case summaries, headnotes and briefs exist — condensed versions that preserve the essential argument in a fraction of the words. Precis writing is the exam-scale version of that same skill: say everything that matters, in roughly a third of the space, and nothing more.

In two minutes

A precis is a condensed version of a longer passage that preserves its central meaning and main points in your own words, at roughly one-third of the original length, with a suitable title — testing comprehension and concision rather than creativity.
