Health care Delivery System in India
Your grandmother in a village near Panvel gets a fever. She walks to a small health centre. If it is serious, she is sent to a bigger hospital in town, and if that fails, to a teaching hospital in Mumbai. Meanwhile your neighbour in Belapur goes straight to a private multi-specialty hospital. Both are part of one national system, but they sit in different layers, run by different owners, under different rules. Who decides which patient goes where, and what does the law say about each layer?
In two minutes
