The Indian Medical Council (Professional Conduct, Etiquette and Ethics) Regulation 2002
Your family doctor writes the name of a branded tablet on the prescription and a pharmacy next to the clinic happens to stock only that brand. A friend posts on social media that a surgeon has offered a discount for a package of operations. A patient asks for a copy of her file and is told the file is 'hospital property'. Are these doctors breaking a rule? The answer is found in a set of Regulations made in 2002 that act as the written code of conduct of the profession.
