Motive, Preparation and Conduct

Someone is found dead in a flat in Kharghar. The police discover that the neighbour had quarrelled with the victim over parking for months, bought a cheap mobile the day before, and left the city that night. None of these facts, by itself, shows who killed the victim. Together they form a story. Section 6 of the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023 tells the court which parts of such a story it may hear: the reason for the act, the getting ready for it, and what the person did before and after.
