When facts not otherwise relevant become relevant

You are accused of pickpocketing on the Andheri local at 6 pm on Tuesday. Your reply is simple: at 6 pm you were at a wedding in Pune, and you have the photographs with timestamps. The photographs have nothing to do with the theft. They are not about the train, the victim or the wallet. Yet no sensible court would refuse to look at them. Section 9 of the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023 explains why: a fact that is not relevant in itself may become relevant because of what it says about another fact.
