Parliamentary and Presidential Government (Meaning and Definition, Features, Merits and Demerits and Comparative Study)

India's Prime Minister can be removed by a single vote in the Lok Sabha tomorrow morning. America's President cannot be removed by Congress at all, short of impeachment for a genuine offence, and will sit out his fixed term even if every member of Congress despises him. Same job, roughly — head of the executive — but a completely different relationship to the legislature, and that relationship is the whole of this topic.

A parliamentary government fuses the executive into the legislature and makes it collectively accountable to Parliament through a vote of no confidence, while a presidential government keeps the two branches separate, with a directly elected President serving a fixed term independent of the legislature's support.
