The Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act 1981- Definitions, Establishments of — Central Pollution Control Board (S. 3)

Every Diwali morning in Mumbai the sky over Chembur and Mahul turns the colour of weak tea, and people on the Harbour line cough their way to work. Smoke from a chimney, dust from a construction site, fumes from a bus: all of it is air you and your neighbours must breathe. Who decides how much smoke a factory may release, who stops a plant from opening in a crowded area, and who can ban a dirty fuel? The Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act 1981 builds on the Water Act’s board system to answer these questions.

In two minutes
