False Evidence and Offences against public justice
In a Mumbai road-accident case, a witness swears that the truck driver was drunk, though he was not even on the road. Another person quietly hides the victim's mobile phone, which held the only video. A third shelters the accused in his village for a month. None of the three committed the accident, yet each has attacked the court's ability to find the truth. Chapter XIV of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita is the law of those who corrupt justice from outside the dock.
