Offences relating to documents and property marks
A buyer in Panvel pays a deposit on the strength of a flat agreement with the builder's signature on it. Later the builder says he never signed. Across town, a shop sells a bag with a famous brand's mark that the brand never made. One is a false document, the other a false mark, and both lie about who stands behind a thing. The law punishes the lie in the paper or the mark separately from any cheating that follows, and the exam asks you to say what makes a document false and what turns a false document into forgery.
In two minutes
BNS ss.335–350 (old IPC Chapter XVIII) punish making a false document (s.335), forgery (s.336) and its aggravated forms, using or possessing forged documents, falsifying accounts, and misuse of property marks.
