Offences and Penalties
An employer in Belapur deducts provident fund from his staff’s salaries every month and pockets the money. Another refuses to show an inspector the wage register. A third sacks a woman employee because she is pregnant. Are these the same kind of wrong, and does the law punish them equally? Chapter XII of the Code on Social Security, 2020 sorts such conduct into a graded scale: some lapses carry a fine only, some carry jail, and repeat offenders face more.
