Social Security for unorganized workers, Gig Workers and Platform Workers

The person who delivers your dinner in Andheri, the auto driver you book on an app and the woman who stitches blouses at home for a boutique in Dadar all work hard and earn a living. None of them has a provident fund passbook or an employer who pays insurance. Are they employees? The Code on Social Security, 2020 says, in effect, that the label matters less than the need: Chapter IX creates a route to social security for them through schemes, registration and, for app-based work, a levy on the platforms.
