Unfair Labour Practices
A worker in a Taloja factory is dismissed the week after she signs up as a member of a new union. The letter says “misconduct”. Everyone on the shop floor knows the real reason. Meanwhile, down the road, a union cuts off the factory’s gate and will not let non-striking staff in. Both sides have crossed a line that is not a strike rule or a lay-off rule. Indian labour law calls these acts unfair labour practices, and it lists them. What is on the list, and who can commit them?
