Information to the Police and their Powers to Investigate — Section 154 to 176
Your scooter is stolen from outside a mall in Vashi. You walk into the police station and the officer says he will take a written complaint and revert. Must he register it today? Must he give you a copy? If he refuses, where do you go? Every criminal case that begins with the police starts with information, followed by investigation, and ends with a report to a Magistrate. Chapter XIII of the Sanhita governs that entire journey.
